What are your hours of operation?
Be Well Massage Therapy is open:
Tuesday 8:30am – 4:30pm
Wednesday 8:30am – 4:30pm
Thursday 9am – 6pm
Friday 9am – 6pm
Bi-weekly Sunday's 9am – 6pm
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes. Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists’ day that could have been filled by another patient. 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment is required. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee.
Do you have reception?
No. Be Well Massage Therapy is owned and operated by a single practitioner. This means that phone calls and emails are returned between treatments or at the end of day. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. You are a priority!
Do you offer direct billing to extended health benefits plans?
Yes. Direct extended health billing is offered for most insurers.
Is MLD covered under my extended health benefits plan?
Yes. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is given by a Registered Massage Therapist. This type of treatment is within the Scope of Practice as a treatment they can provide.

Do you offer ICBC direct billing?
No. We do not offer direct billing to ICBC. If we do provide care related to your claim, you will need to submit your receipt directly to ICBC.
What to expect on my first appointment?
Your first appointment will include a review of your medical history, treatment goals, anatomy review if needed, assessment, hands on treatment and home care.
What do I wear?
You can wear anything that is comfortable for you. Whether you are in pj’s post surgery or rushing in from the office, come as you are. Your therapist will explain how to prepare for massage therapy during intake and answer any question you may have.
Can I have massage when I am pregnant?
Yes. Massage therapy can be used at any stage of your pregnancy. Your therapist knows how to keep you and baby comfortable, as well as safe. Please inquire with you physician if you have any concerns or need approval.
Can I have massage or lymphatic treatment after surgery?
Yes. Post operative massage therapy can be used the same day as surgery or when you are well enough to travel to our clinic. There are many supportive techniques that do not come into contact with your surgical site but treat swelling and other areas of discomfort or altered function. As you continue to heal, your treatment is adapted for your stage of healing. Your therapist has advanced education in post-op care, as well as training specific for breast cancer surgeries. surgical complications, oncology support, gender affirming surgeries and scar tissue management.
I still have drains from surgery, can I still receive lymphatic or massage therapy?
Yes. Your experienced practitioner can safely treat you if you still have drains.
What if I have a minor surgical complication, can you help?
Yes. Your RMT is trained in understanding post operative healing and can be very helpful in treating a problem (e.g. seroma, hematoma, fibrosis, cording) or noticing an infection or dissolved stitches pushing through the skin, “spitting stitches.”
What training has the RMT had for Manual Lymphatic Drainage?
Your therapist is a certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist by Dr. Vodder School International, in Applied MLD Therapy.
Do I need my Doctors approval for treatment?
If you are receiving treatment for Cancer, you will need oncologist approval to ensure that Manual Lymph Drainage is best for you.
For recent surgeries, please consult your surgeon if you are unsure.
I am taking antibiotics; can I still have treatment?
Yes, but it is recommended to wait until at least 3 days into your course of antibiotics if there was infection present.
Is MLD a full body treatment?
Yes and no. Though the treatment is usually focused on 1-2 specific areas of the body, it does have a systemic effect. This means it supports the lymphatic system as a whole.
Is oil or lotion used in MLD?
No. Oil or lotion will not be used during the treatment. The techniques rely on movements that gently stretch, not glide, on the skin.
Is MLD painful?
No. Only a light-touch is used in a repetitive sequence.
Will this help me lose weight?
No. MLD is not designed for weight loss. While it may reduce swelling or water retention, it does not target fat loss or body weight.
How many appointments will I need for MLD?
This depends on the condition being treated and treatment goals. You RMT will discuss a treatment plan with you.
When is MLD not used in treatment?
Contraindications to MLD:

Congestive heart failure (CHF) The heart cannot process the regular amount of fluid and MLD would send more fluid, which would further congest/over burden it.
